Q.ANT Appoints Utz Bacher as VP of Software to Advance Photonic Computing Initiatives
Q.ANT has appointed Utz Bacher as Vice President of Software, effective January 1, 2026, to lead its software organization and support photonic computing initiatives. Bacher will enhance Q.ANT's software stack, focusing on algorithms, applications, and partnerships.
He joins from IBM Germany, where he held senior roles in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, HPC, and quantum computing, including contributions to IBM's first European quantum data center. This appointment is part of Q.ANT's strategic shift to scale operations and accelerate development in photonic computing, which aims to deliver high performance with lower energy consumption for AI and HPC applications. Q.ANT recently released the Q.ANT NPU 2, designed for advanced nonlinear mathematics in light.
