Qatar Invites Bids for Groundwater Facility and Consultancy Contracts
Qatar's Public Works Authority seeks prequalifications for a water facility, aiming to diversify water supply sources. This initiative aligns with ongoing projects to enhance water security amid reliance on desalination.

Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened prequalification for a contract to design and build a groundwater and surface water facility in Doha, with a submission deadline of 31 August. Concurrently, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) is looking for consultants for groundwater production wells, with bids due by 20 August.
This consultancy will cover the design of groundwater wells, water towers, and brackish water reverse osmosis units. Currently, over 99% of Qatar's water supply comes from desalination. Recent contracts have been awarded by Kahramaa to enhance desalination capacity through its Facility D IWPP and Ras Abu Fontas A3 schemes, reflecting the urgent need for alternative water sources.
