QTS to Build €4 Billion Hyperscale Data Center in Lippetal, NRW
US investor QTS plans to invest €4 billion to construct a hyperscale data center in Lippetal by the end of the decade. The facility will be located on 27 hectares in an intermunicipal industrial area near Hamm.
The data center aims to meet the rising demand for data capacity driven by cloud computing and AI, with global demand expected to double by 2030. The project is supported by local authorities, and QTS plans to operate entirely on renewable energy.
The investment could lead to 100 direct jobs and additional indirect employment in the region. The municipality of Lippetal is required to establish land use and development plans, expected to take around two years.
