Qualcomm and ZF Develop ADAS Platform for Level 3 Autonomous Driving

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Qualcomm and ZF have entered into a partnership to develop a scalable Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) platform for Level 3 autonomous driving. The collaboration integrates ZF's ProAI supercomputer with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Ride platform, enabling deployment across various vehicles and automation levels.

The ZF ProAI can achieve over 1,500 TOPS of computing power, suitable for sophisticated vehicles, while the Snapdragon Ride Pilot uses AI for real-time image analysis and driver behavior monitoring. Key features include hands-free highway driving, automated lane changing, and real-time mapping, all upgradeable via over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The ADAS solution is modular, offering approximately 25 functions for customization. The partnership will also explore multi-domain solutions, including in-vehicle infotainment systems. However, ZF's recent sale of its ADAS division to Harman International raises questions about the future of the collaboration.
