Queensland Advances Major Battery Storage Projects
Queensland's battery storage capacity will reach 940 MW with four projects nearing completion, enhancing energy affordability. The state's commitment to large-scale battery investment positions it as a leader in renewable energy solutions.

Recent developments in Queensland's battery storage sector include the energization of four significant projects, totaling 940 MW once operational. Powerlink has activated the second stage of Quinbrook's Supernode battery, while Iberdrola Australia's Broadsound battery is in the testing phase.
Additionally, the Stanwell and Woolooga batteries are now integrated into the grid. Over the past year, Powerlink has connected nine large battery projects, contributing over 2 GW of storage capacity. These initiatives align with the Queensland government's strategy to reduce energy costs and enhance supply reliability. The continued investment in battery storage is expected to stabilize the grid and support the integration of renewable energy.
