Queensland Government Launches $200 Million North West Energy Fund for Renewable Projects
The Queensland government has introduced a $200 million North West Energy Fund (NWEF) to promote renewable energy generation and battery storage in North West Queensland, particularly in towns like Mount Isa and Cloncurry. This initiative follows rising costs of the CopperString project, now estimated at over $13.6 billion, and aims to foster private sector partnerships while identifying investment opportunities through a market sounding process involving over twenty organizations. The fund seeks to deliver flexible energy solutions and ensure an affordable, reliable energy supply in the region.
