Queenstown Golf Club Implements Solar Energy System for Community Resilience
Queenstown Golf Club has installed an 80-panel solar system with 42 kWh battery storage, enabling self-sufficiency during daytime operations. This initiative enhances resilience as the clubhouse serves as a community shelter, ensuring power for essential services during emergencies.

Queenstown Golf Club has transitioned to a largely self-powered facility, operating its café, kitchen, bar, and pro shop mainly on solar energy. The solar system, installed by Queenstown Solar in October, supports the club's role as a community shelter hub, providing essential services during potential disasters.
The system generates around 30 kWh daily, allowing the club to keep vital operations running and support local residents in emergencies. Financially, the investment has a projected payback period of six to eight years, with panels expected to last up to 30 years. In addition to solar power, the club has reduced chemical usage and planted over 1,000 native trees, enhancing environmental sustainability.
