Quảng Ninh Province's proposed Digital and Free Knowledge Economic Zone will span 26,380 hectares and focus on digital infrastructure and knowledge-based industries. It aims to attract 80-150 global technology companies and create between 150,000 and 250,000 high-quality jobs, contributing 8-12% to the province's gross regional domestic product.
The development will feature a concentrated digital technology cluster, an AI hub, a disaster recovery data center, and an education-focused urban area. This shift reflects a transition towards a growth model driven by digital data. The project is currently under appraisal by the Ministry of Finance, emphasizing a need for special mechanisms to foster investment.
