Rainbow Colors tulip nursery in Andijk has initiated hydrogen production using surplus solar power since 2023. The installation utilizes solid oxide electrolyzers for efficient hydrogen generation, contributing to local energy solutions and reducing costs. This facility is the first agricultural user of such technology and the third-largest operational installation globally, serving as a model for similar agricultural businesses in Noord-Holland Noord.

Since 2023, Rainbow Colors tulip nursery in Andijk has been producing hydrogen using surplus solar power and battery storage, enabling continuous hydrogen production. The facility employs solid oxide electrolyzers, which are more efficient and durable than traditional options, resulting in lower hydrogen costs.
This installation is the first in agriculture to use solid oxide electrolyzers and ranks as the third largest operational globally. It addresses regional grid congestion and offers a model for other agricultural businesses in Noord-Holland Noord, contributing to local energy solutions and economic growth.
