Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farm Development Update
Rampion 2, an extension of the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, is set to generate up to 1,200MW and is currently targeting future Contract for Difference (CfD) rounds. Despite concerns regarding commercial viability and ecological suitability, Rampion 2 remains on track for a 2030 operational date.

The Rampion 2 project aims to have a generating capacity of 1,200MW, featuring up to 90 turbines and several offshore substations. The estimated cost ranges from £3 to 4 billion, with export cables planned to connect to Climping Beach.
Recent claims from Protect Coastal Sussex indicated potential funding issues, but Rampion 2 developers assert eligibility for future CfD rounds. Development consent was granted in April 2025, with operational status expected by 2030.
The project has faced criticism over ecological impacts in Sussex Bay, and campaigners suggest alternative locations for the wind farm. RWE, the lead developer, maintains progress is steady towards full construction.
