Ras Al Khaimah Signs $300 Million PPP Agreement for Wastewater Treatment Plant Development
Ras Al Khaimah has signed a $300 million public-private partnership agreement with the EWE-SAUR-TAQA consortium to develop a wastewater treatment plant with an initial capacity of 60,000 cubic meters per day, expandable to 150,000 cubic meters. This project aims to enhance the emirate's wastewater infrastructure for a population of 300,000 and aligns with UAE sustainability goals, promoting public health and economic resilience. Construction will commence following financial close and detailed engineering.

Ras Al Khaimah's government has signed a long-term Sewage Treatment Agreement with the EWE-SAUR-TAQA consortium to develop a wastewater treatment plant with an initial capacity of 60,000 cubic meters per day, expandable to 150,000 cubic meters. The project, part of the emirate's first public-private partnership, aims to serve a population of 300,000 and is expected to enhance the region's wastewater infrastructure.
The consortium will operate under a Design-Finance-Build-Own-Operate-Maintain-Transfer model, ensuring efficient service delivery. The project, with an estimated investment of approximately USD 300 million, will support sustainable urban development and improve environmental performance, aligning with UAE sustainability goals. Construction will follow financial close and detailed engineering, with the goal of completing the plant to enhance public health and economic resilience.
