Recall of Batteries and Chargers Reduces Fire Risks in East of England
Over 8,798 potentially hazardous batteries and chargers have been recalled in the East of England to enhance safety. This action follows a previous initiative that removed 1,800 unsafe lithium-ion products from the market.

Trading Standards services in the East of England have recalled 8,798 batteries, chargers, and devices due to significant fire risks. A recent campaign tested 18 items, revealing that all but one sample failed to meet legal safety standards, with 14 posing hazards such as electric shock and fire.
This effort is a continuation of last year's project which identified 1,800 unsafe lithium-ion batteries. Authorities emphasize the importance of purchasing from reputable retailers to mitigate risks associated with third-party sellers. Rising incidents of lithium-ion battery fires have prompted warnings to charge devices safely and avoid unattended charging.
