REDES4VALUE Project Transforms Recycled Nylon Fishing Nets into Industrial Applications
The REDES4VALUE project, led by AIMPLAS, UBE, ZIKNES, and the University of Valencia, aims to recycle abandoned fishing nets into sustainable products, focusing on polyamide materials. Funded by IVACE+i and ERDF, the initiative uses advanced recycling processes to produce high-value items for packaging, automotive, and agriculture. The project addresses marine pollution by closing the life cycle of polyamides and has established a circular value chain with access to nets recovered in Ghana.

The REDES4VALUE project focuses on recycling abandoned nylon fishing nets into sustainable products. A consortium of AIMPLAS, UBE, ZIKNES, and the University of Valencia aims to close the life cycle of polyamides and reduce marine pollution through innovative recycling processes.
Funded by IVACE+i and ERDF, the project utilizes advanced techniques to recover monomers and produce new polyamides for applications in packaging, agriculture, and automotive sectors. The initiative has established a circular value chain with nets sourced from Ghana, facilitating real-world validation of recycling processes. This collaboration is critical for achieving project goals and demonstrating the viability of chemical recycling solutions.
