Reliance Industries Merges 16 Subsidiaries into Clean Energy Arm Reliance New Energy Limited

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has consolidated 16 wholly owned subsidiaries into its clean energy division, Reliance New Energy Limited (RNEL), effective January 21, 2026. The merger, approved by the Regional Director, Western Region, aims to streamline RIL's new energy initiatives, including green hydrogen and energy storage.

Key merged entities include Reliance Power Electronics Limited, Reliance Electrolyser Manufacturing Limited, and Reliance Hydrogen Fuel Cell Limited. This restructuring follows a mixed performance report for RIL in the December quarter, showing a 1.6% increase in profit after tax to Rs 22,290 crore. Jio Platforms reported an 11.2% rise in net profit to Rs 7,629 crore, with a subscriber base of 515.3 million and Jio AirFiber surpassing 10 million users.
