Removal of Tariffs on LFP Battery Cells Boosts Investment Potential in Türkiye
The elimination of tariffs on lithium iron phosphate battery cells by year-end is set to enhance investment in Türkiye’s energy-storage sector, impacting project competitiveness for 2027. This shift aims to transition the market towards domestic production and reduce import dependency.

The removal of additional tariffs on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells by the end of the year is expected to significantly impact investment dynamics in Türkiye’s energy-storage sector. C. Can Tutaşı, chairman of EDSİS, noted that this decision would lower project costs and enhance competitiveness for initiatives scheduled for 2027.
As global battery prices decline, the upcoming months will be crucial for procurement strategies. However, Tutaşı warned against excessive imports that could lead to inventory issues and emphasized the need for alignment with production plans. Ultimately, Türkiye aims to establish a comprehensive domestic manufacturing ecosystem for the battery industry.
