Residents of Greenleaf, Wisconsin, Oppose Proposed AI Data Center by Cloverleaf Infrastructure

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Residents in Greenleaf, Wisconsin, are opposing a proposed AI data center by Cloverleaf Infrastructure, rejecting offers up to $120,000 per acre for their land. Bill Vandevoort, a fifth-generation resident, and Kyle Swalheim, who was offered nearly $2 million for his property, expressed strong attachments to their homes and the local environment.

Cloverleaf seeks hundreds of acres for the data center, claiming it would create up to 200 full-time jobs and enhance local infrastructure. However, residents are concerned about potential resource depletion and environmental impacts.

Cloverleaf's Chief Development Officer, Aaron Bilyeu, stated that modern data centers do not use water for cooling and adhere to standards for light pollution. Greenleaf Village Board members were not informed of the proposals until a Planning Commission meeting on January 5, with further discussions scheduled for January 14.
