Resumption of Faisalabad Wastewater Treatment Plant Construction
Construction on Faisalabad's Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant has resumed following a suspension due to security concerns. This facility will treat 33 million gallons of wastewater daily, aiding urban sanitation and reducing river pollution.

Construction work on the Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant in Faisalabad has recommenced after a brief halt due to security issues raised by a Danish donor agency. The facility, Punjab's second-largest of its kind, will treat 33 million gallons of municipal and industrial wastewater per day, discharging treated water into the Gugera Branch Canal for agricultural purposes.
Security concerns led to a temporary withdrawal of foreign engineers, which prompted the Water and Sanitation Agency to implement stricter security measures. The project aims to mitigate river pollution and protect aquatic ecosystems, addressing past issues where untreated wastewater was released into the Madhuana Drain. The return of foreign engineers indicates a commitment to complete the project on schedule.
