Revolution Wind Offshore Wind Farm Begins Power Delivery to New England Grid
WIND ENERGY
Revolution Wind, a 704 MW offshore wind farm developed by Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables, has commenced power delivery to the New England grid. It is projected to provide electricity for over 350,000 homes and businesses in Rhode Island and Connecticut, under 20-year fixed-price contracts.
Construction began in 2024 and involved over 1,000 union workers. Connecticut's analysis anticipates savings of up to $500 million annually in wholesale energy costs by 2028. The project supports year-round energy generation and is critical for grid reliability, particularly in winter. Ørsted is investing nearly $700 million in U.S. shipbuilding for this initiative.
