Rice Twp. Awarded $820,000 Grant for Culvert Replacement Under Laurel Drive

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Rice Township has received an $820,000 grant from the Multimodal Transportation Fund for replacing the culvert beneath Laurel Drive. State Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver announced the grant, part of nearly $8 million allocated for transportation and infrastructure projects in her district.

State Rep. Alec Ryncavage emphasized the grant's significance for community infrastructure stability and safety. The culvert replacement comes after PennDOT closed the bridge over the Nuangola Lake outlet last year due to structural issues.

Additionally, a zoning hearing regarding Brewster Land Company's challenge to Dorrance Township's zoning ordinance has been continued to March 30, 2026. The challenge claims the ordinance unlawfully excludes data centers. In related news, a public hearing on an appeal by IGE Performance Chemicals regarding a stop work order was continued as the township and the firm seek a resolution following a fire incident at the plant.
