Rocket Lab and Raytheon Selected for U.S. Space Force's Space Based Interceptor Program
Rocket Lab and Raytheon have been selected to demonstrate technologies for the U.S. Space Force's Space Based Interceptor program, enhancing national missile defense against hypersonic threats. The partnership addresses urgent security needs and positions both companies for significant defense contracts.
Rocket Lab Corporation and Raytheon will collaborate on the Space Based Interceptor program, part of the U.S. Space Force's initiative to enhance missile defense capabilities against hypersonic threats.
The contract aligns with the broader Golden Dome missile defense initiative and aims to deploy interceptors in orbit. Rocket Lab, with a market capitalization of $45.5 billion and a stock performance increase of 280% in the last year, is financially positioned to undertake this project.
Additionally, Rocket Lab is set to conduct three hypersonic test flights for Anduril Industries using its HASTE vehicle. This agreement reflects growing demand for hypersonic technology testing, with HASTE-related contracts constituting nearly one-third of Rocket Lab's backlog.
