Rocket Lab Secures Approval for Mynaric Acquisition to Enhance Laser Communication Capabilities
Rocket Lab Corporation has received regulatory approval from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to acquire Mynaric AG, a key supplier of optical laser communication terminals. This acquisition, set to close in April 2026, aims to bolster Rocket Lab's capabilities in supporting the European space industry and address supply chain challenges in satellite communication systems.

Rocket Lab Corporation has received approval from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to acquire Mynaric AG, with the transaction expected to finalize in April 2026. Mynaric specializes in laser communication terminals which offer higher data transmission speeds and security compared to traditional RF communications, making them critical for current and future satellite constellations.
Mynaric will continue operations in Munich, establishing Rocket Lab's first European presence. This acquisition will allow Rocket Lab to internally produce CONDOR Mk3 terminals, reducing dependency on external supply chains and increasing scalability.
Rocket Lab's revenue has grown by 38% over the last year, reaching $601.8 million, while the backlog exceeds $2 billion. Although stock performance has declined by 22% year-to-date, the integration of Mynaric and enhanced production capabilities could provide a strategic advantage in the competitive space market.
