Rolls-Royce and Voltaria to Develop 43 MW Battery Storage in Scotland
Rolls-Royce and Voltaria are constructing a 43 MW battery storage facility in Falkirk, Scotland, set to support the UK's Clean Power 2030 Action Plan. This project aims to stabilize the grid and enhance renewable energy usage by efficiently storing and distributing electricity.

Construction has commenced on a 43 MW battery storage facility in Falkirk, Scotland, developed by Rolls-Royce under an EPC contract with Voltaria Helios Energy Storage. The mtu EnergyPack will have an 86 MWh capacity and is scheduled to connect to the grid in 2026, with operations beginning in 2027.
This facility aims to mitigate energy wastage from excess renewable generation and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The UK has set a goal of 27 GW of battery storage capacity by 2030, emphasizing the importance of such projects for balancing energy supply and demand. The Bankside project marks the first of several planned by Voltaria in the region.
