Romanian Government Prioritizes Energy Sector Strengthening and Gas Projects

The government aims to pressure Hidroelectrica to build 500 megawatts of storage capacities. Additionally, measures for the Liberty Galati Steel Plant will be discussed to ensure its strategic importance and employee support.

Romania's Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that strengthening the energy sector is a government priority, focusing on increasing energy storage capacities. He urged Hidroelectrica to construct 500 megawatts of storage to lower energy costs during peak consumption.
The government also seeks to complete two significant natural gas projects, the Mintia and Iernut power plants, to balance the national energy system. Furthermore, Bolojan announced plans to declare the Liberty Galati Steel Plant a strategic objective, initiating an international tender to secure its future and support employees.
