Romanian Ministry Proposes Financing for Battery Storage to Support Photovoltaic Expansion
The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forestry (MMAP) and the Environmental Fund Administration (EFA) plan to propose financing scenarios for projects, including battery storage, to the Ministry of Finance next week. Minister Diana Buzoianu emphasized the urgency of approving the EFA budget to facilitate payments for ongoing photovoltaic projects that have stalled due to funding delays. The national grid requires additional storage solutions as investments in photovoltaic panels grow.

The Romanian Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forestry (MMAP) and the Environmental Fund Administration (EFA) will propose financing scenarios, including battery storage, to the Ministry of Finance next week. Minister Diana Buzoianu stated that hundreds of ongoing photovoltaic projects have stalled due to funding delays after being moved from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) to the EFA budget.
She highlighted the urgent need for storage systems as the national grid cannot accommodate the current investment in photovoltaic panels. The approval of the EFA budget is critical for resuming payments and advancing these essential projects.
