Romania's EMISAR Satellite Set for Launch by SpaceX on March 30, 2026
The EMISAR CubeSat, developed entirely by Romanian experts, will be launched by SpaceX as part of its Transporter-16 mission. This marks a significant technological advancement for Romania in the space sector, showcasing capabilities in small satellite deployment and communication systems.

Romania's EMISAR CubeSat (1U) is scheduled for launch on March 30, 2026, at 14:30 local time. It will be deployed via a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base during SpaceX's Transporter-16 mission.
The project is spearheaded by a consortium led by the National Institute for Research and Development in Lasers, Optoelectronics and Photonics (INFLPR), in collaboration with Romanian InSpace Engineering (RISE), RARTEL S.A., and the Maritime University of Constanța. EMISAR aims to demonstrate secure digital message transmission between terrestrial stations in various locations, enhancing data transfer capabilities under limited connectivity.
Prior to its launch, the satellite successfully passed all testing phases, meeting European Space Agency and SpaceX requirements. This mission signifies Romania's growing expertise in developing and operating complete space systems, paving the way for future Earth observation and communication initiatives in low Earth orbit.
