Ronald Lauder, an American billionaire and heir to Estée Lauder, is reportedly backing this initiative and has invested in Greenlandic companies, including Greenland Investment Group, which aims to participate in a hydroelectric project at Lake Tasersiaq. This project is expected to enhance the island's export revenues and public finances.

Lauder's involvement also extends to Greenland Water Bank, which bottles water from a local source. Experts note that Trump often relies on private associates like Lauder for foreign policy, rather than formal diplomatic channels, highlighting the significance of Lauder's activities in the Arctic.
