The Round Rock City Council will consider a rezoning request from Skybox Datacenters on February 12, after initial approval on December 4. The proposed data center will be built on 29 acres at the intersection of A.W.

Grimes Boulevard and East Old Settlers Boulevard. The development will be divided into three sections for different uses, including a data center and substation. The data center will use a closed-loop cooling system requiring about 10,000 gallons of water initially, compared to traditional systems that use hundreds of thousands of gallons daily. The facility will have a footprint similar to 100 homes but is expected to generate tax revenue equivalent to 500 homes.
