Royal Navy Completes First Sea Trials of NavyPODS Medical Module
The Royal Navy has successfully conducted its first sea trials of the NavyPODS medical module, achieving technology readiness level (TRL) 8. This advancement is crucial for enhancing healthcare capabilities on ships lacking Role 2 facilities and demonstrates the integration of containerized medical solutions in naval operations.

In late April, the Royal Navy's Medical NavyPODS underwent its first sea trials aboard HMS Protector, marking a significant step in the Navy Persistent Operational Deployment System (NavyPODS) program. The trials demonstrated the module's ability to integrate seamlessly with naval ships and operate independently of ship capabilities.
FDS has produced 12 prototypes since 2023 and has designed a new side-pod deployment system allowing quick setup for clinical teams. The enhancements, which followed a successful land-based trial, include an in-house developed HVAC unit tailored for maritime medical use.
The trials also featured a shock raft system for improved deployment in high-risk environments, addressing the need for adaptable medical capabilities on various naval platforms. FDS anticipates increased demand and has expanded its production facilities accordingly.
