WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
The Karnataka government has approved a Rs 2 crore project to upgrade the sewage treatment plant (STP) at Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru. The upgrade aims to enhance the STP's capacity from 350 KLD to 500 KLD to meet current wastewater treatment needs.
The existing STP operates using the upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) method and has faced operational challenges. The upgrade will utilize the current civil infrastructure while constructing new sequencing batch reactors and collection tanks. Administrative approval has been granted, and tenders for the execution of the work are being invited.
