Ørsted Acquires 150 MW Battery Storage Project from ESA in Michigan

Ørsted has acquired the 150 MW Salzburg battery energy storage system in Michigan from ESA Solar Energy, with a projected commercial operation date between 2029 and 2030. The transaction was led by Ascend Analytics, which provided advisory services including asset valuation and market outlook.
The project is strategically positioned to support Michigan's utilities as the state aims for a 60% renewable portfolio standard by 2035 and a complete transition to clean energy by 2040.
