Ørsted has laid 51 km of onshore underground cables for the Hornsea 3 project off the Norfolk coast. Restoration efforts have returned two-thirds of the affected farmland to its original state. Senior land and property manager Jack McPherson emphasizes the importance of soil reinstatement to minimize disruption for landowners and maintain crop yields. The reinstatement process, involving careful layering of subsoil and topsoil, aims to complete by autumn this year.

Ørsted has installed 51 km of onshore underground cables for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind project, located approximately 120 km off the Norfolk coast. Two-thirds of the farmland affected has been restored to its original condition.
Jack McPherson, senior land and property manager, oversees the land restoration, ensuring proper soil reinstatement to mitigate agricultural impact. The cable route is divided into 74 zones for emergency access, and the final reinstatement is expected to be completed by autumn 2026. Collaborative efforts with landowners, such as Morley Farms, include planting seed mixes and replanting native hedgerows to support local ecology.
