Ruamrudee International School and Bodrum Anatolian High School Win 2026 Zayed Sustainability Prize

Ruamrudee International School in Thailand won the 2026 Zayed Sustainability Prize in the Global High Schools - East Asia & Pacific category for its 'Future of Good Life' project, which addresses the environmental impact of rice farming using the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) method and the RiceSense sensor. This initiative will help reduce methane emissions by up to 40% and save approximately 750 cubic meters of water per growing cycle, benefiting around 1,200 students and 150 teachers.

Bodrum Anatolian High School in Türkiye received the same prize in the Global High Schools - Europe & Central Asia category for its 'IYTIMS' wildfire prevention project, which employs drones and solar energy to monitor and suppress fires. This project aims to protect 1,200 hectares of land and avoid 20,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions while training nearly 1,500 students in STEM and AI skills. Each school will receive a $150,000 award to further their initiatives.
