Russia Urged to Support Africa in Renewable Energy and Food Security
Experts from the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs call for Russian assistance in renewable energy and food security in Africa. This collaboration is vital as Africa faces significant climate challenges and food insecurity, despite contributing minimally to global emissions.

The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) hosted a roundtable urging Russia to enhance its support for Africa in renewable energy, particularly solar, hydropower, and nuclear initiatives. Experts emphasized the need for assistance in food security, highlighting Russia's role as a major grain supplier.
The discussion also addressed Africa's vulnerabilities to climate change, stressing the importance of financial investment in climate-resilient infrastructure. Russia's engagement in Africa aims to reshape global power dynamics and strengthen partnerships through forums like the Russia-Africa Partnership. This strategic cooperation could reshape energy investments and agricultural stability in the region.
