Rwanda has opened 10 new mining blocks for exploration, attracting significant investor interest after receiving 73 applications for 10 previously unveiled blocks in mid-2025. The new blocks will be available for field visits from February 16 to 20, 2026, with applications due by March 3, 2026.
Four blocks have been previously explored, while four are targeted for fresh exploration and two for gemstones. The Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board highlights the need for technical expertise in bids, as the country aims to enhance its role in global supply chains for strategic minerals.
