Rwanda's Teleport Achieves Tier 3 Certification from WTA, First in Sub-Saharan Africa
Rwanda's teleport facility in Rwamagana has received Tier 3 Certification from the World Teleport Association, marking it as the first fully certified teleport in Sub-Saharan Africa. This certification enhances the region's satellite communications infrastructure, potentially attracting international partners and investors.

The Rwanda Space Agency's teleport facility has attained Tier 3 Certification from the World Teleport Association, becoming the first fully certified teleport in Sub-Saharan Africa and the first operated by a national space agency. This certification validates the facility's operational standards and is valid for three years, positioning Rwanda as a key player in satellite communications.
Previously, only one provisional certification existed in the region. The certification could enhance Rwanda's appeal to satellite operators and international collaborations, supporting the country's broader strategy to build a sustainable space sector. With Africa's demand for satellite services increasing, this facility may significantly contribute to meeting those needs.
