RWE and SSE Win Contracts in UK's Offshore Wind Power Auction

RWE and SSE won contracts in the UK's offshore wind auction, securing 6.9 GW and 1.4 GW respectively. The auction included the 100 MW Erebus project by Blue Gem Wind and the 92.5 MW Pentland project by CIP and Eurus.
Strike prices were £216.49/MWh for floating wind and £91.20/MWh for RWE. The UK aims to decarbonize electricity by 2030, with a total of 8.4 GW awarded. The Erebus project, Wales' first floating wind farm, is expected to create 5,000 jobs. A grid connection for Pentland is scheduled for 2027.
