RWE and SSE Win Contracts in UK's Offshore Wind Power Auction
RWE and SSE secured contracts in the UK's offshore wind auction, winning 6.9 GW and 1.4 GW respectively, as part of the government's goal to decarbonize electricity by 2030. The auction awarded a total of 8.4 GW, including the 100 MW Erebus project, Wales' first floating wind farm, expected to create 5,000 jobs, and the 92.5 MW Pentland project, with a grid connection planned for 2027. Strike prices were set at £216.49/MWh for floating wind and £91.20/MWh for RWE's projects.
