RWE Secures Approval for Nordseecluster B Offshore Wind Farm in German North Sea
RWE has received planning permission from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency for the Nordseecluster B offshore wind farm, part of a 1.6-gigawatt project in the German North Sea. This second phase will add 900 MW of capacity, with installation of foundations starting next year and turbine installation scheduled for 2028. The first phase, Nordseecluster A, is expected to connect to the grid by early 2027.

RWE has obtained approval for the Nordseecluster B offshore wind farm, allowing the company to advance its 1.6-gigawatt project in the German North Sea. The project, located 46 kilometers north of Borkum and 50 kilometers north of Juist, will add 900 MW of capacity to the existing 660 MW from Nordseecluster A, which is under construction.
Installation of foundations for Nordseecluster B will begin next year, with turbine installation expected in 2028 and commercial operations starting in early 2029. Together, the clusters will produce approximately 6.5 terawatt hours of electricity annually. RWE will supply green electricity to its industrial clients, including Amazon, under a Power Purchase Agreement for 110 MW.
