RWE to Develop Pembroke Battery Storage Project in Wales for Net Zero Centre
RWE is set to construct the Pembroke Battery Storage project in South Wales, covering 5.1 hectares. The facility will include 212 lithium-ion battery containers, capable of discharging 350 MW of electricity for two hours, equivalent to 700 MWh. This project supports the Pembroke Net Zero Centre and is expected to create jobs. Construction is planned to begin in early 2026, with operations anticipated by late 2028, pending grid connection updates.

RWE's Pembroke Battery Storage project will be located in a 5.1 ha area south of the Pembroke power station in Wales. The facility will consist of 212 lithium-ion battery containers, capable of discharging 350 MW of electricity for two hours, totaling 700 MWh, sufficient to power nearly 300,000 UK homes for that duration.
This project will support the Pembroke Net Zero Centre. Construction is scheduled to start in the first half of 2026, with commissioning and operations expected in the second half of 2028, contingent on an updated grid connection.
