Sage Pointe District Seeks Logan County Assistance for Water and Sewer System Funding

Sage Pointe Metropolitan District is requesting Logan County's assistance to secure a $1.99 million loan needed for updates to their water and sewer system. The district's current system is under a cease and desist order due to past violations, necessitating a permanent solution after the original wastewater treatment plant was shut down in 2024.

Monthly expenses for the district are approximately $78,050, projected to rise to $86,450 post-improvements. The district has approached over 20 banks without success due to its limited credit history.

To enhance its appeal to lenders, the district has requested Logan County to co-sign the loan. Additionally, the district is facing challenges with Amazon, which has not connected to the water system as required, leading to increased financial burdens on local residents. Without a resolution, ongoing operational costs will disproportionately impact the small customer base.
