SAJ Launches Education-Focused Renewable Energy Lab in Zimbabwe

ENERGY STORAGE

Chinese renewable energy provider SAJ has established a renewable energy laboratory in Zimbabwe aimed at education and skills development. The lab will focus on training local technicians in renewable energy technologies, including solar pump inverters and energy storage solutions, addressing Zimbabwe's electricity supply challenges.

The country faces a power deficit of up to 1,600 megawatts (MW) despite a renewable potential of 1,872 MW, with significant contributions from solar, biomass, and other sources. SAJ emphasizes a long-term investment strategy that promotes capacity building and sustainability.

The lab's educational programs will be offered free of charge, while the company aims to ensure product quality with a 10-year warranty. Although SAJ does not currently have a manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe, it plans to create job opportunities through skills transfer and local component design.
