Salem Township Planning Commission Approves Lot Consolidation for Data Center Campus
The Salem Township Planning Commission approved a lot consolidation plan for a data center campus proposed by SNA North LLC. This plan included revisions based on recommendations from the township's engineer.
The Commission's vote was three to two in favor, which also entailed limiting public access to parts of Cemetery Road and Market Street. Developers plan to widen these streets for emergency vehicle access, ensuring industrial vehicles avoid residential areas.
The approval follows the township's previous updates to maintenance codes aimed at regulating modern buildings, including data centers. Residents expressed concerns over communication, water usage, noise levels, and land preservation, noting a lack of engagement from developers despite proximity to the proposed site.
