Salesian Community in Palabek, Uganda, Installs New Solar Power System
The Salesian community in Palabek Refugee Settlement, Uganda, has installed a new solar power system funded by Salesian Missions. This upgrade, featuring 60 solar panels and 16 lithium batteries, enhances energy access for over 600 residents and supports educational and social programs for the camp's 93,000 inhabitants, primarily from South Sudan.

The Salesian community in Palabek has implemented a new solar power system, funded by Salesian Missions, which includes 60 solar panels and 16 lithium batteries. This upgrade addresses previous electricity shortages and significantly improves energy access for religious missionaries and community residents, impacting over 600 individuals.
Prior to this project, existing systems were inadequate, limiting electricity supply to only a few hours nightly. The transition to renewable energy reduces reliance on fuel-based generators, leading to lower operational costs and environmental benefits. The new infrastructure supports essential services, thereby fostering community development and well-being, particularly for the camp's youth.
