Salience Labs and Tower Semiconductor Partner to Manufacture Optical Circuit Switches for AI Data Centers
Salience Labs and Tower Semiconductor have partnered to produce Photonic Integrated Circuit-based Optical Circuit Switches for AI data centers. The collaboration utilizes Tower's silicon photonics platforms, moving from development to pre-production, to enhance optical connectivity performance. This partnership addresses the growing demand for higher bandwidth and lower latency in data centers, with projections indicating AI back-end network switch spending will surpass $100 billion by 2030.
Salience Labs Limited is collaborating with Tower Semiconductor to manufacture Optical Circuit Switches (OCS) for AI data centers, leveraging Tower's silicon photonics technology. The partnership has transitioned from development to pre-production, focusing on high-volume deployment.
The OCS architecture aims to improve bandwidth and reduce latency in response to the increasing complexity of AI workloads. According to Dell'Oro Group, AI network switch spending in data centers is projected to exceed $100 billion by 2030. This initiative aims to optimize optical connectivity for AI infrastructure, enhancing performance and energy efficiency.
