Samsung Launches PM9E1 Gen5 SSD with 4 TB Capacity and 14.5 GB/s Speeds in M.2 2242 Form Factor
Samsung has launched the PM9E1 Gen5 SSD, featuring a capacity of 4 TB and read speeds of up to 14.5 GB/s in a compact M.2 2242 form factor. The SSD is optimized for AI applications and offers a 45% improvement in power efficiency compared to previous generations.
It achieves sequential read and write speeds of 14,500 MB/s and 12,600 MB/s, respectively, along with 2000K IOPS for reads and 2640K IOPS for writes. The PM9E1 integrates an 8th-generation 1Tb V-NAND and DRAM on a dual-sided PCB, enabling consistent performance for demanding workloads.
It supports SPDM v1.2 security protocols for device authentication and secure data transfer. The SSD is qualified for use in NVIDIA's DGX Spark desktop AI supercomputer, optimizing power efficiency and thermal load in compact AI systems.
