Samsung SDI to Launch Prismatic LFP Battery Production for US Energy Storage
Samsung SDI's prismatic LFP battery production line in the US is set for mass production by October 2026, addressing an anticipated demand surge in energy storage systems. The company has secured substantial orders through 2029, indicating a growing market need.

Samsung SDI's prismatic lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell production line for energy storage systems (ESS) is entering mass production quality validation, with production expected to commence in October 2026. Deliveries to customers are anticipated to start by the end of 2026.
Orders have already filled a significant portion of production capacity through 2029, with demand projected to surpass capacity starting in 2028, leading to potential plans for further capacity expansion. Additionally, a Non-FEOC-compliant LFP supply chain has been established to bolster the US ESS market. This strategic move could enhance Samsung SDI's competitive edge in a rapidly growing sector.
