DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The San Angelo City Council approved the rezoning of 345.27 acres from Ranch & Estate to Light Manufacturing for a potential Skybox Datacenters site. The ordinance passed 6-1, with Councilman Keeley dissenting.

Planning Director Vannoy highlighted protections such as noise limits and urban design reviews. The site is near an AEP substation and 3.6 miles from the nearest residential zone. A Chapter 380 economic development agreement will be required for land sale, ensuring controls on use and infrastructure. Future steps include 380 agreement negotiations and site plan review.
