San Juan County Commission Reviews $254 Million Sunbelt Solar Project and College Upgrades

The San Juan County Commission reviewed the $254 million Sunbelt Solar project, featuring a 100-megawatt solar array and a 50-megawatt battery energy storage system on 750 acres. Constructed over two years, the project will create 175 temporary jobs and generate $1.4 million in annual tax revenue.

PNM Energy will operate the facility, while Gridworks manages its development. The commission also approved San Juan College's request for fiscal oversight on a $5.9 million HVAC upgrade project, with state funding covering 75%. Additionally, the commission supported a grant application for nearly $2 million for County Road 350.
