San Juan County Commission Reviews $254 Million Sunbelt Solar Project and College Upgrades
The San Juan County Commission discussed the $254 million Sunbelt Solar project, which includes a 100-megawatt solar array and a 50-megawatt battery storage system. The project is expected to create 175 temporary jobs and generate $1.4 million in annual tax revenue. Additionally, the commission approved San Juan College's request for fiscal oversight on a $5.9 million HVAC upgrade project. A transportation grant application for nearly $2 million for County Road 350 was also supported.

PNM Energy will operate the facility, while Gridworks manages its development. The commission also approved San Juan College's request for fiscal oversight on a $5.9 million HVAC upgrade project, with state funding covering 75%. Additionally, the commission supported a grant application for nearly $2 million for County Road 350.
