SANEDI and DUT Strengthen Green Hydrogen Collaboration with HySA Tour
The South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) organized a tour for the Durban University of Technology (DUT) to the Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) Infrastructure on January 20-21. The tour aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange and expose DUT to hydrogen research facilities.
Discussions included collaboration possibilities with the HySA centre at North-West University (NWU) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). In August 2024, SANEDI and DUT signed a memorandum to enhance hydrogen research capabilities, supported by R2 million in seed funding.
A significant aspect of this partnership involves acquiring a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser from HySA, which will aid in research and skills development in green hydrogen technologies. The tour included insights into training opportunities for DUT students and plans for joint research funding to enhance hydrogen research infrastructure.
