Sarens Joins SOMOS Consortium to Advance Modular Offshore Wind Technology in Spain
Sarens has become a tractor partner in the SOMOS 2024 Consortium, a research initiative in Spain focused on developing modular offshore wind solutions. The three-year project, funded by the Community of Madrid and the ERDF, has a budget exceeding €4.5 million. It aims to create a modular floating hull system using Modular Stackable Pontoons (MSP) for improved efficiency. Collaboration includes Esteyco and other firms, with the project addressing challenges in cost and logistics for floating wind technologies.

Sarens is now a tractor partner in the SOMOS 2024 Consortium, a Spain-based initiative aimed at advancing modular offshore wind technology. Funded by the Community of Madrid and the European Regional Development Fund, the three-year project has a budget over €4.5 million.
It focuses on developing a modular floating hull system using Modular Stackable Pontoons (MSP) to enhance transport, installation, and operational efficiency. The project integrates technology from Esteyco, including systems like ATOMS and TIM, and also employs remote monitoring to improve performance. The consortium includes other companies and the Technical University of Madrid, targeting challenges in cost and scalability for floating wind solutions.
