Saskatchewan's Energy and Resources Minister Chris Beaudry is advocating for mining and energy investment during a visit to British Columbia and Alberta aimed at enhancing export access and infrastructure cooperation. Beaudry participated in the Western Mining Ministers Summit on January 25, where discussions focused on economic corridors and shared infrastructure, culminating in a memorandum of understanding to expedite major natural resource projects.
Saskatchewan, as Canada's largest primary producer of critical minerals, plays a vital role in supply chains. On January 26, Beaudry attended the AME Roundup conference and toured a lithium processing facility by Saltworks Technologies, which is developing Project Aurora in southeastern Saskatchewan.
The minister also visited the Port of Vancouver, crucial for exports. He concluded his trip on January 28 in Calgary, discussing the goal of increasing oil and gas production to 600,000 barrels per day by 2030.
